What Are Your Expectations?

What are your expectations of your Spurs team? A championship? A good playoff run?

I ask the question because I didn't know what to expect from this team at the beginning of the season. Would TD hit a wall as a sophomore? Would David be injured? Would Sean be healthy? How would Antonio play? What was the make up of the bench? These were just some of my questions because at that time in January, nobody had a clue as to what would happen in May.

Well a lot of my questions were being answered during the NFC playoffs. When a local radio station was interviewing Red McCombs in Minnesota, the reporter just happened to see Mario Elie at the game. The reporter asked him what the chances of Mario playing for the Spurs.

His answer? "About 90% he'll be a Spur."

Now that gave me hope because what this team sorely lacked was a gutty player. Then just a week afterwards I found out that Steve Kerr and Jerome Kersey would be a part of the team as well.

Now I had some high expectations of my own and they were being based off of previous past performances.

I will admit that I continue to have those high expectations simply because I believe this team can achieve them. When you are around the team a lot like I am, you get a feel as to what this team can do. I've seen the defensive prowess that has been instilled on a team that has offensive punch.

If it is all clicking, the Spurs play extremely well. When it doesn't click right, they will falter.

In January I didn't know what to expect. The funny thing is that in May I still don't know what to expect because we're in new territory right now. I want this team to continue winning.

It would be good for San Antonio to get the national exposure and the hype. More importantly the fans need a good run because they need hope to go along with those expectations.

GO...SPURS...GO!!!

Greg's Thoughts on the Timberwolves Series

Many have been wondering why Steve Kerr hasn't been playing in the Minnesota series and the only thing I can tell them is that he's on a bad matchup with the Timberwolves.

Kerr is a great outside shooter but defensively he's a risk. Against teams like Seattle, Portland and Utah he can do great things, but when an opponent is very athletic at all five positions, you don't want him out there unless he can get help.

However don't fret because should this team get out of the first round, Kerr should get some major minutes in the next series.

By the way the Spurs should make some adjustments that will include the offense running through David Robinson if Dean Garrett is the center for Minnesota. That move will free up Sean Elliott on the wing or Tim Duncan on the left box when David is double teamed.
