Dunleavy and the Trailblazers should put their money where their mouths are

1999 NBA coach of the year Mike Dunleavy and the Blazers are too over confident with there series against San Antonio. Now that they are trailing (at publication time), the Western Conference Finals series by dropping the first three games surely that confidence should be lacking.

Not for Dunleavy and his star guard Isaiah Rider. Rider said before the series started that Portland could play "C Grade" basketball and still beat the Spurs, he must have thought that he would have been playing basketball against the Tottenham soccer team Spurs in the English premier league instead of the American National Basketball Association; San Antonio Spurs.

Instead of "C grade" basketball, Portland has probably played 'A Grade' basketball until crunch time, where San Antonio have played A + basketball when it counts. Be it in Game 1 where Rasheed Wallace missed a shot over the long arms of David Robinson that would have tied the game for a possible overtime, and Game 2 where Spurs trailed all game until Elliott hit his baseline tippy toe game winner. The last shots of those games have been said to be a "money" shots according to Mr Mike Dunleavy. (Game 1, after Wallace's miss to tie the game)"I'll put my money on that any time", and who could forget Dunleavy after Elliott's game winner in Game 2 "I'd give him 100 bucks to see him make that shot again." Message to Dunleavy see the regular season game the Spurs played at Phoenix, Elliott has become a clutch performer.

I am not bagging Dunleavy, he is a great coach, but maybe he should think about how clutch teams always find a way to win where it seems impossible to do so, and give credit that what the Spurs are achieving is talent and not pure luck. As far as Rider goes, he is a great player but his comments were ridiculous. The Spurs get the job done- full stop.
