An ongoing legacy

Ever since Nadia's prefect 10, Romania has taken pride in it's countries Gymnasts. Their womens team shines and their consistency is always winning medals. The legendary coach Bela Karolyi originated from this country, wherehe found Nadia Comeneci doing cartwheels at school. Now, head coach Octavian Belu has taken Bela's place. Romania is deffinately a gymnastics power and has been for several years. They have been world team champions for the last 3 consectutive years. In Atlanta things didn't go as planned, they were short 1 athlete and finished 3rd. But in the AA for the first time 3 Romanian flags were raised . Gina Gogean won the silver, and team mates Simona Amanar and Lavinia Milosivich tied for the bronze. Now Milo has retired and Gina has been talking about retiring since Laussane. SimonaAmanar is also still going strong, she is dynamic on all 4 events. The future looks bright for rising stars Corina Ungureanu ( IMO very under-rated) , Maria Olaru and Adreea Isarescu .Romanians will always continue to be leaders in this sport, delivering perfect routines even under pressure. The gymnasts are determined and hard working and the end results are wonderful.

Spotlight: Simona Amanar

Simona Amanar is an incredible gymnast. Some of her acheivments are Olympics, World, and European vaulting champ ( her best event), Olympic bronze AA, and World silver AA. Sometimes over-shadowed by her teammates Gina Gogean, or Milo, she is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Simona's gymnastics style is powerful, clean, and consistent. She's an amazing tumbler and is known for her perfect yurchenko double full. She is the only remaining gymnast still competing from the Atlanta team, she is doing a great job leading the pack.
