Christian and Edge vs Kurt Angle and Hardcore Holly
Four days off of winning the tag team straps, it was time for the fellas to, as Bob Holly once said "nut up or shut up." Their opponents - Kurt Angle and Bob Holly of course. Angle had been itching to get at some more gold, the only thing he had to do was find a partner. Scotty Too Hotty and Essa rios both balked at his proposition (like they are too big to team with an Olympic hero.. some people!) Mae Young was ready to accept the challenge when, lucky for us, Bob Holly came by. Angle begged him to team up and Bob, in customary Holly style said "Edge & Christian - you know, I don't like those two little girls - I think it'd be FUN to kick their ass!". And the match was made!
To start the match, Hardcore lets the Olympic Hero kow just who's running things.. and starting the match. Kurt knows his role and goes outside, making it Christian and Hardcore to start things off. The two lock up and Holly gets the side headlock. Christian tosses Bob off the ropes and on the rebound Bob takes him down with a shoulderblock. Off the ropes again, Christian goes over the Big Shot. The Big Shot kicks Christian. The shot to the guts is ducked, there's another go into the ropes, up, over, (finally) Christian hits a back body drop and,
BACKGROUND:
The tag team champions have to defend all the time, lest we forget who the champions are, right? Plus, it looks like the Hardys are about to hook it up with the Dudleys, which means Christian and Edge have to find new people to play with. Enter Angle and Holly.

dragging Holly along, makes the tag to Edge. The twosome hits a double hiplock takedown and Edge makes the cover for two. Bob reverses his way out of the post-pin arm wringer only to have it reversd back on him. The tag is made to Angle and he comes in with fists a flying.
Edge goes up to the second rope and tries to aerially assault the Olympian, only he jumps right into a belly-to-belly suplex. Bob comes back in and puts the boots to Edge while reminding the ref just show the real Big Shot is around those parts. Off the ropes, Holly hits a back elbow and makes the cover. He also, only gets a two count. Another suplex. Another two count.
Angle is back in and putting a serious pounding on Edge in the corner. Out of the corner and into a verticle suplex. Yet another pin attempt. Yet another two count. More fists are put to Edge, followed by... another two count. Now, I'm not saying anything dispariaging about Angle and Holly (because they are two of my favorites) but GOOD GRIEF!
Into the ropes again, this time Edge gets the Sunset flip pin attempt for.. 2. Angle follows with (guess) a two-count of his own. All of these near falls are reminding me of that time Christian fought Jeff Jarrett for the IC title.
The tag is made to Hardcore, and he and Edge battle in the corner. In the end, it is Hardcore who comes out on top, whipping Edge into the opposite corner and hitting yet another bodyslam. Guess what? Two count! Sidewalk slammed to the mat, egd tries to mount a comeback but he just doesn't get the job done. Maybe he should consider getting to his corner and making the TAG!
Instead, Holly makes the tag to Angle who comes straight at the beaten Edge, literally beating him into a corner. But, there's life in Edge yet! One drop toehold later, Angle has a face full of turnbuckle. he follows this up with a lariat, but because he had been getting thrashed for the better part of the match, Eedge's offense ended there.
Both men just lay on the mat, and you have to wonder could this be the big everyone-gets-a-tag segment that signals the match tempo picking up? It has to be. Yes! It is! tag to Holly followd by the tag to Christian.
An inverted Atomic drop takes Angle off his game. A double whip and takedown taked Holly. (Amazing how resilliant Angle and Edge were, after all they were almost dead less than 30 seconds ago.) The cover on Hardcore is broken by Angle right before he gets the Spear (Spear! Spear!) Kurt rolls out of the ring and Holly kicks Edge out as well.
Christian's set in the corner, short clotheslined on his way out and backbreakered. Hmph, he's not doing much better than his partner was. Speaking of which, Edge whips Angle into the barricade just in time to run to the ring and crotch Holly on the top rope. Ouch! Christian goes over for the top rope suplex. Edge gets behind and under Christian. Bob goes for the BIG ride! 1...2.....3! Christian and Edge win the match and keep the tag straps. maybe Kurt wishes he would have kept Mae as his partner. ::shrugs::
After the match Angle was livid! He berated Holly for losing the match.. saying he should take the "O" in Big Shot, replace it with one of Kurt's three "I's" and then he;d have a better representation of himself. The next thing you know Holly hits the dropkick, slapped him in the Hollycaust and leaves him lying.
