After their washout in the top of the table clash last weekend, Hillingdon faced old rivals Farnham Royal in
the Thames Valley Division One. Skipper Simon Webb won the toss and asked the visitors to bat. Hillingdon bowled tightly and fielded well to restrict the visitors to 232-5 from their allotted 52 overs. Left with 48 overs to reach their target, Hillingdon started poorly losing both Julian Corbin and Steve Tompkins in quick succession, however magnificent batting for Jarrad Taylor (64) and Ben Hart (57) pulled things around only for both to lose their wickets at crucial stages. It was left to veteran Barry Seymour (20*) to see Hillingdon through to the close for a draw 27 runs short of their target.
On Sunday, Hillingdon's match at Little Marlow was a one sided affair; the home side batted first and were shot out for just 75, skipper Rob Morris picking up 5-12 as they collapsed from 68-4. Hillingdon made short work of the reply knocking off the runs for the loss of just 4 wickets in less than 20 overs. Skipper Simon Webb will no doubt be heartened by the return to the fold of left armer Dave Tompkins from Beaconsfield. Dave has been league leading wicket taker for two of the last three years and has been sorely missed this season. This weekend, the opponents are Thatcham Town, who will no doubt provide stern opposition, while on Sunday we visit Wembley in the 2nd round of the Bertie Joel Cup. |

2nd XI Saturday Hillingdon 113 ( 47.1 overs ) Richings Park 115-8 (48 overs) |
The second XI narrowly lost their local derby match with Richings Park, put in on a wicket that resembled a horse paddock, all of the batsmen struggled against indifferent bounce and exaggerated lateral movement amassing just 113. Richings Park were quickly 29-4 in reply, but a 5th wicket partnership of 60 put them in a strong position only for a mini collapse to occur with 24 needed. Richings Park eventually scraped home with 4 overs to spare and 2 wickets in hand. This weekend they entertain Bracknell 1st XI at Coney Green. | ||||||||||||||
