Flag Football in Thailand

Even though American football games have been broadcasting in Thailand for more than ten years, the game itself is not popular at all. It seems that the sports is too violent to be played in Thailand.

Originally, TV commentators tried to promote touch football in Thailand. However, touch football was only played in limited groups. In 1997, when NFL Shop was officially opened by Bangkok Athletic Company Limited, there was another attempt to re-establish football plays in Thailand. The Old Buffs team proposed the use of flag football in order to minimise injury risk. Nevertheless, flag football league was not able to be established since responsible coordinator could not resolve the conflict among a few teams. Bangkok Flag Football Club was then established by the original three teams - The Old Buffs, Tweety and Whizzers

Bangkok Flag Football Club is, therefore, independent from any business entity, but was founded by American Football lovers who would like to see the football being played in Thailand.
