The Pulpit

The Pulpit

The halo? Ladies and gentlmen, that is what is under consideration for change as of lately within our hallowed halls. For you have seen once again, the rumours run rampant that the luminous symbol of the New Orleans Saints is under consideration for an alteration, this time to the "ferociousness" of the color black.

Do I need to remind my congregation, that for so many years, the New Orleans Saints were labeled time and time again, as a team of followers, and not a team of leaders. And once again, it seems that the geniuses who run the New Orleans marketing department have again decided to follow that achingly familiar path.

First it was our hated rivals, the Atlanta Falcons. Then add to that, the Denver Broncos, the Tennesse Titans, Baltimore Ravens, and even the St. Louis Rams are in the process of a uniform change.

But father, those teams changed, and it brought out a new attitude in the team. It was something that led to their superbowl visits and victories.

To them I say, Heresy! If those teams needed to change their uniforms to get up for the challenge that is known as the NFL, then maybe, just maybe they needed to look back at what they put in those uniforms before hand! It is not the uniforms on the players that make \ the men in the NFL the great warriors they are. It is the men in the uniform!

Everyone likes progress, however, there are some things that should remain nostalgic. And folks, the golden crown of the Fleur-de-Lis is one of those things. Remove your marketing hands from the gold helmets of this team. There has been only two constants for the majority of the Saints NFL history, dismal records, which I'll be glad to see done away with.

But every man needs a constant, and that constant in the big easy is the "golden dome". Leave them alone!
