This is the entrance of "Factory #971". It used to be a
state-run armory making light weapons like
AK/SKS as well as some artilleries. It is located some where
near City of Wuxi (about 200 miles
south of Shanghai). The vast area it occupies, its
enumerated name, and the old security guard booth
remind the prestige this manufacturering facility used to enjoy in
its "good old days". Recently, Factory
#971 has adopted a new name - Xin Su Industrial
Corporation.
Its representative in US is Xisico.
Inside 971, the factory buildings. The style of those brick-concrete
building is typical in pretty
much all the countries of eastern block, while the bicycle shelter
in the front adds some Chinese
charactor.
Due to the ever shrinking of the orders from the military, 971 is becoming
more and more dependent
on the commercial products such as sporting air rifles to support its
1,100 workers. The is a corner
where 5% of the airgun assemblies are randomly sampled for quality
inspection.
The QC inspectors are carefully examing the samples.
The finshied airgun products are being packed and ready to be
shipped out.
The young workers look pretyy happy.
