(1999 Season)

This is the second year of Arnprior United's existence. Last year, This team placed second in Division 3 of the OCSL. We finished the season with the second highest number of points, the most goals scored, and the least goals against. None the less, we lost to Smiths Falls in a penalty shoot-out after tying the final 0-0.

On August 31, the Ottawa Internationals came to Arnprior.  The first half was even, and Arnprior scraped its way out with a 1-0 lead.  In the second half of the game, Arnprior came on strong, scoring 5 extra goals to finish the rough game 6-0.

With a 3 game winning streak coming into the game against Gloucester, Arnprior was ready to play on Tuesday, August 24.  From the opening kick both teams were playing hard.  Only one goal was scored in the first half of the game, and it was by Arnprior United.  The second half was all Arnprior. Although the Gloucester Hornets had a few chances, Arnprior's defence proved to be to strong. They added three goals to their first, and made the final score 4-0.

Tuesday August 19-  Two days later, we were ready for our next competition versus the White Royals at Orlando Field.  The first half was tight, with both teams playing pretty much equally. Arnprior came out of the first half  with a 1-0 lead.  The second half of the match belonged pretty much entirely to Arnrprior.  We put the ball in the opponents net 3 times in the second half making the final score 4-0.

Tuesday August 17-   Coming off a dramatic finish to our last game, we  travelled to Nepean's Centrepointe Field to take on Nepean City.  Arnprior totally outplayed the last place team in a no-contest 8-0 win.

On Tuesday, August 10, after a week without playing, the team from Arnprior was ready to take on the visiting Ottawa United players.  I was not at this game and do not know the fine details but here's basically what happened: The first half went in favour of Ottawa United as they scored 3 goals to Arnprior's 0. But the tide turned for the second half as Arnprior marked 5 unanswered goals to win the game 5-3 !!

Salvadoreno visited Arnprior on Saturday July 31.  The  two teams played well, but at the end of the first half, the score was 2-1 for Salvadoreno. Arnprior United put up a good attempt to come back, but their hopes were crushed when a Salvadoreno player scored the last goal of the game, making the score 3-1.

On Saturday, July 24, at the McNab/Dochart Soccer field in Arnprior, The White Royals faced off against Arnprior United. With only about 6 minutes remaining in the second half,  and Arnprior leading by a score of 2-1, the Royals got a goal to even the score at 2 apeice. Fortunately for Arnprior United, a goal was scored in the last two minutes or so to make the final score 3-2 in favour of Arnprior.

Now, I've missed a couple of games while I was on vacation, and I can't accurateley describe the games that I missed. Here are the scores though

Tuesday, July 6 : Arnprior 1   Royals Blue 1

Tuesday, July 13: Arnprior 3  Gloucester Grn 3

Coming off of three defeats, the Arnprior United squad seemed to be a little discouraged as they went into a game against the first place team Cumberland. On Tuesday, June 22, we travelled to Cumberland's "Queen's Wood Ridge" Soccer Pitch to play in the 30 degree weather. With barely a full team showing up, we began the game. Cumberland got the first goal, and then another, and another, but before the first half was over, an Arnprior United player made the score 3-1. The heat got to the under-subbed Arnprior team in the second half as the Cumberland Cobras scored three more goals. Arnprior scored one last goal on a long lob that went into the top-right corner. The game ended with a final score of 6-2. Cumberland, having only had one goal scored against them before June 22, had two goals scored against them in one game .

On Tuesday, June 15, Arnprior United was looking to even out their record to 2-2 against Gatineau. The first goal of the game was scored by Gatineau, but Arnprior quickly answered back with a goal of their own.  The Gatineau team scored another two goals, making the score 3-1, but Arnprior put the ball in the net again to make the score 3-2.  Arnprior pushed until the final second, but the Gatineau defence proved to be too strong for them.  The game finished 3-2.
