In the Still of the Night is the story of my carp fishing life up to my capture of She in 1977. It is the story of an obsession with carp fishing which ultimately led to an obsession with just one fish - She - and how I set about catching her.
The book describes what it was like trying to learn how to carp-fish in the early 1970s and the methods, tactics, and tackle which were available at the time. There are many accounts of the characters I encountered during my fishing and a large part of the book is involved with the influence these friends and acquaintances have on one's fishing.
