-TSN Interview with Edge
(May 28, 1998) Wow, what a night. On Thursday May 28th, TSN held it's See It, Live
It, fall launch party, and not only were the superstars of the sports world such as Guy
Lafleur, Shayne Corson, and Kordell Stuart there, but the superstars of the World
Wrestling Federation such as Edge, Kurrgan, Jackyl, The Quebecers, and The Fink were all
on hand as well. hen opened the entire place up for everyone to see.
The best part of it all? I got to chat at length with some of our users online in the
chatroom, and Kurrgan, Edge, Jackyl, and the Fink all answered questions at length.
Early in the night, I had a chance to speak with The Fink, Howard Finkel, and he had tons
to say on subjects from John Tenta, to Brakkus. Part of that transcript is online now.
Later I had an opportunity to talk with Edge, Kurrgan and Jackyl. Jackyl in particular was
hilarious, often saying things like "The Jackyl is so over right now that he could be
intercontinental champion tomorrow if he wanted to." On the subject of Edge joining
The Parade of Human Oddities, "Hell no, I spend too much time with the guy in our
personal lives as is.", On Kurrgan, "He'd never fight in ECW, he's too much of a
wussy." On Rick The Model Martel, "He was my tag team partner." and on the
jewel on his forehead which seemed to annoy many viewers..."The jewel is over with
the fans like nobody's business."
Kurrgan, a man of few words had some juicy nuggets for us none the less. "I will be
debuting my new image soon." an image which is courtesy of Mick Foley and The
Undertaker. "No I will not be joining Jackyl's Parade of Human Oddities"
(Interesting side note here, Jackyl often told Kurrgan "Dance Giant" as the
music played in the background). On Kane, "I could beat Kane in a minute, if Vince
would give me the chance." On Brakkus, "He's highly overrated, and doesn't
really have what it takes to make it in the WWF."
Edge, meanwhile, managed to get a few words in with us, in between chasing Playboy
Playmates. On Val Venis; "I'd love to get a chance to work some matches with Val, I
think we could do some great stuff." On his size, "6'4", 240lbs"
(which by the way makes him a heavyweight). On his role in the WWF, a face, or heel...he
said "I'm somewhere in between, in that Grey Area that Vince McMahon talks
about." On Glenn Kulka, "Glenn's gotten even bigger if that's possible in his
time off, when he makes his return, he's gonna be huge!" On his debut with the WWF:
"My debut is set for June 15th on RAW." On where he trained, "I trained
with Sweet Daddy Siki in Toronto Ontario at Sully's Gym." Who's the best worker in
the biz? "There's just too many to name." Finally, there's a big rumour Edge
wants to squash..."DX did NOT make me cut my hair!"
Finally, Kurrgan and Edge were talking about The Giant Silva, from Jackyl's parade of
human oddities, they said he's a huge man from Brazil, and totally doesn't know his own
strength. The guy came into training camp, having never trained before...and benched
400lbs on his first try.
