Saturday brought the first day of Helicopter action and also the start
of problems during the
morning. The Miss Budweiser had a slice of aluminum steel tear away from the bottom
of
the hull and work to repair started after the hull was put on barrels. Everybody
(#12, 15, 22) was
lending a hand to repair the battered-up "bad boy" in the movie. Shot #1
shows the extra's make-up
building that was used during Labor Day weekend. #21 shows a little hole under the
side of
Notre Dame's right sponson. After lunch, the Bud crew got to work on the problem
(#24 & #37)
while shooting went on for the other hulls with low drive-by's by the helicopter.
Jeff Ayler, Thriftway
crew member and Hydro Guru, was hard at work touching up the cockpit and other areas of
Miss Thriftway (#25 & #40). Great helicopter footage can be seen in the latter
part of the
day's photos! #62 shows how hard this movie life is for Jerry Hopp and Bob
Schroeder.
Side note: Mark Evans & Todd Yarling were carrying cameras with them while out on
the Ohio River. Now that's an angle nobody but them can get!
